Barcelona’s young star Ansu Fati is reported to have had another intervention after his recovery ran off the rails.
Ansu Fati has been sidelined with a knee injury since last November. The 18-year-old sustained a tear in his internal meniscus at Barcelona’s fixture against Betis. Although recent reports had suggested that the player’s recovery was going well and that he could return sooner than expected, some new information has come to disprove past accounts.
According to TV3, Fati’s recovery hasn’t been going as smoothly as expected. Therefore, one of the Blaugrana’s doctors advised the teenage sensation to undergo a second procedure in order to fix whatever damage was still preventing the healing process.
Spanish journalist Javi Miguel reported that Ansu Fati agreed on having another surgery back in January, but asked Dr. Ramon Cugat to do it in secret. The young footballer is worried that the news could have a negative impact on his career and the club respected his wish.
However, it has been confirmed by AS that Ansu Fati is struggling with his workload and knee inflammation. Therefore, no one at Barcelona is ruling out the need for a third intervention to be carried out. Moreover, this would mean that Ansu Fati would miss the rest of the season for Barcelona. In fact, the wonderkid would probably be left out of the European Championship this summer.
Nevertheless, both Fati and Barcelona are focused on one thing only: getting the player’s knee back to 100% so he can return to the football pitch as soon as possible.
