The Blues full-back has dished on life under Tuchel and his plans to become a regular starter for the new manager.

Reece James likes what he sees from Thomas Tuchel, describing the glory-hungry Chelsea boss as ‘very funny and very passionate’.

Tuchel has made a solid start to his reign at Stamford Bridge, having gone unbeaten in his first 10 games. The German’s impact has prompted a revival in fortunes, with Chelsea back in the Premier League top-four ahead of Monday’s clash with Everton.

Now James has offered some insight into on how the squad is with Tuchel.

“He is very funny and very passionate because he wants to win,” the Englishman told the club’s website.

“He wants the best for his players and his team, and that shows when he’s on the sideline kicking and heading every ball. Everyone gets on well and it’s a great group.”

James has only started twice in his five appearances under Tuchel so far amid the intense competition for places at Chelsea.

“When you play for a top team, you cannot always play and you know you might find yourself in a period where you don’t play as much,” said James.

“You have to just keep working hard and you never know when your chance will come. I have to keep working and be ready. The manager always has his reasons on why he thinks that person should play. He is the manager and he makes the decisions so I have to respect them.”
