Just recently, Real Madrid spent a whopping €103 million to sign Jude Bellingham, but that’s not where they stop. The club is determined to keep following its transfer strategy down to the final letter.
Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Fenerbahce’s 18-year-old midfielder Arda Guler, who may command an initial transfer fee of €17.5 million.
However, the commission being demanded on top of the transfer fee is complicating the deal, making it “significantly” more expensive. Other clubs, such as Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, and Liverpool, have taken a step back from negotiations for the same reason.
According to ESPN, Real Madrid had planned to place Guler at Castilla or loan him out, but he would prefer to join a mid-level club to continue his development. Joining the Spanish team is still a dream move, but regular game time is the Turkish teenager’s priority. RB Leipzig, AC Milan, and Barcelona are also interested in him.
If Real Madrid get their man, it would mark another step in the right direction for the club’s transfer strategy, which is heavily based on acquiring young players.
In the past few years, they have acquired several young talents. These have included Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni. Jude Bellingham joined from Borussia Dortmund this summer, and Endrick, a young Brazilian striker, will arrive when he turns 18.
Guler made his senior debut in 2021 as a 16-year-old. The Turkey international scored six goals and dished out seven assists in all competitions for Fenerbahce last season. He made 35 appearances overall, 18 of them as a starter.
Arda Guler is the type of player you pay good money for to go and watch in a stadium.
