Los Blancos have welcomed back two key players to training ahead of the La Liga match against Eibar this weekend.

Toni Kroos and Eden Hazard made a surprise return to training ahead as Real Madrid prepare for Eibar on Saturday afternoon.

While Sergio Ramos suffered a calf injury during the international break, Kroos has overcome the muscular problem that forced him out of Germany’s three World Cup qualifiers against Iceland, Romania, and North Macedonia.

According to Marca, the 31-year-old has returned to training earlier than expected. Zinedine Zidane has confirmed it, but the Real Madrid boss has suggested he may rest Kroos for this weekend.

“He stayed and trained with us [over the international break],” said Zidane on Kroos in his pre-match conference on Friday afternoon.

“As there are a lot of games ahead of us, we will not do anything silly. We’ll see how we manage it. That’s what’s most important.”

An ulterior motive, of course, would be to keep the German fresh for the first leg of the club’s Champions League quarter-final tie with Liverpool three days later in Spain.

Hazard, on the other hand, remains a doubt. The Belgian may have returned to training following a psoas injury, but Zidane couldn’t confirm when exactly he can recall him to the matchday squad.

“We don’t have a plan for Hazard, we won’t risk him,” said the Frenchman.

“He’s feeling better but we will be careful with him. We’re happy he started training with the team.”
