Legendary ex-Real Madrid forward Hugo Sanchez has urged the club to stick with Zinedine Zidane despite their current poor form.
Sacking Zinedine Zidane would be a ‘very hasty’ decision by Real Madrid, according to club legend Hugo Sanchez.
The reigning La Liga champions have struggled to hit steady form for the whole of the current campaign.
Inconsistency proved to be an issue at times last season but for a remarkable post-lockdown run to secure them a domestic triumph.
This season, Zidane has found it tough to maintain that run of results Los Blancos put up last season post-lockdown. Real Madrid have already lost three games this season – as many as they did the whole of last season in La Liga.
The same struggles have been evident on the continental front as well with Madrid in danger of missing out on a place in the Last-16 of the Champions League.
Following a 2-0 defeat to Shakthar Donetsk in the Champions League, Zidane declared he had no intentions to walk away from his job as Los Blancos boss.
Club legend Hugo Sanchez believes the club should give the Frenchman some more time to steady the ship.
He told ESPN when asked whether Zidane should be sacked: “No, I don’t think so yet; it would be very hasty right now.”
“You have to wait until after the remaining [Champions League group] game, which is complicated by being dependent on others.”
“There will be a certain pressure, nervousness, and obviously waiting for the result against Borussia Monchengladbach, too.”
