The defending champions suffered a major setback but the French tactician is not the one to dwell on it as he urges his team to move on.

Zinedine Zidane says Real Madrid must block out all external noise emerging following the team’s Supercopa de Espana elimination.

Real Madrid were found on the wrong end of the scoreline for the first time since December 1 on Thursday – and that defeat came with serious consequences.

The defending champions were sent packing from the Spanish Super Cup after a 2-1 loss against Athletic Bilbao, who will now clash with FC Barcelona in the finals on Sunday.

Karim Benzema’s pulled one back for his side in the second half but it turned out Raul Garcia had already decided the match with a first-half brace.

“It is not a failure,” Zidane said on his side’s exit, via Goal. “Failure is not trying, not giving everything on the field. Life is like that, you can’t always win. What we always try to do is win, but you can’t always.

“We had a good run and now it’s two draws and one loss [in their past four games]. We have to keep working to change the dynamics quickly.

“The outside will be the same as always, what we can do is keep working and move this forward as a team.”
