The Blancos are intensifying their efforts to sign a new No.9 ahead of the next season.

Real Madrid are reportedly considering Lautaro Martinez as an alternative to Harry Kane’s transfer.

Kane has emerged as Real Madrid’s main target for the No.9 position. The Blancos were out of the race for the England captain, but Karim Benzema’s unexpected move to Al Ittihad has forced the club to search for a new striker.

Completing a move for Kane could be even more challenging for the club than their €100m transfer of Jude Bellingham. Tottenham are eager to keep the experienced striker for the final year of his contract, while Bayern Munich still consider him as one of their priority targets.

According to the Athletic journalist David Ornstein, Lautaro Martinez is the next striker on Real Madrid’s list if they fail to bring Kane to Santiago Bernabeu.

Last month, a report from Football Insider claimed Inter are open to parting ways with Martinez. The Nerazzurri are reportedly demanding a £70m fee, with Real Madrid reportedly leading the race to sign him.

Martinez maintained his brilliant form despite Inter’s inconsistent performances in the Serie A last season. The Argentine star registered 21 goals and seven assists in his 38 appearances for the Nerazzurri, helping them secure a third-place finish in the Italian top flight.

The World Cup winner will most likely make his stance clear on a possible summer move after Inter’s Champions League final against Manchester City this weekend.
