The current deals of the Spanish center-back as well as the Croatian maestro are set to expire at the end of this season.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed that Luka Modric has agreed to sign a contract extension with the club.

Modric has been an integral part of the Real Madrid team ever since his arrival from Tottenham in 2012. He has since featured 384 times and won 16 major honors in the famous white shirt.

“Modric has signed or [rather] we have reached an agreement,” Perez told Spanish radio show El Larguero. “With Modric we have had an agreement for some time.”

Another crucial Los Blancos star is approaching his end of his current contract – captain Sergio Ramos. The Spanish center-back, as things stand, will leave the club for free at the end of he season after reportedly rejecting multiple renewal offers.

The Real Madrid chief added on Ramos: “Clearly, it’s not in the same situation.

“I don’t know why we haven’t. We have spoken many times. I don’t want to blame anyone.

“I love Ramos as though he was my son, I’ve done for him all that I can. I recognize all that he has done. But you [reporter] are not going to encourage me to pay Sergio Ramos more. The situation is what it is, he knows it, too. Let’s complete the season and see what happens.

“Once the season is over, I have to see what will happen next season, which will be worse than this one, if COVID-19 continues.”
