The Blancos missed out on the Spanish Super Cup after losing against their arch-rivals.
Carlo Ancelotti has warned Real Madrid to avoid individual mistakes that cost them the Spanish Super Cup title.
The Blancos lost 3-1 against Barcelona as they missed out on claiming their first trophy of the season. However, Ancelotti’s men have bounced back by regaining their best form in recent weeks.
The two Spanish giants will lock horns again this Saturday in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie. Speaking ahead of the game, Ancelotti pointed to his side’s performance in the Super Cup final.
“In the Super Cup we lacked commitment, with individual mistakes that will not be repeated,” he told a press conference.
“We are close to winning an important competition and we will compete. It’s not the decisive game, but we want to take advantage.
“We do not have the desire for a rematch of the Super Cup, but because we are close to a title, the boiler rises in temperature.”
Real Madrid have slipped seven points behind Barcelona on the La Liga table.
Barca suffered their second league defeat of the season against Almeria. But the Blancos managed to close the gap only by one point as they drew 0-0 with Atletico in the Madrid derby.
After the Copa del Rey clash, Ancelotti’s side will take on Real Betis in their next league game on March 5.
