Marcus Rashford has vowed to do better for Manchester United in the upcoming season after admitting he ‘could have done much more’ in 2019/20.
Rashford enjoyed a career-best of 22 goals and 11 assists in 44 outings for Manchester United in all competitions last season.
Had it not been for a back injury in January, which sidelined him for seven games, he may have challenged for a maiden Premier League Golden Boot. It not only cost him valuable game time, but led to a dip in form as well.
By all means, however, Rashford’s 17 goals and seven assists played a valuable role in United’s push for a respectable third-place finish.
Although the England international was powerless to prevent Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side suffering three semi-final exits in the EFL Cup, FA Cup, and the Europa League.
Fellow attackers Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood, meanwhile, stepped up as Rashford crumbled, embarking on impressive runs of form to stake a claim in Solskjaer’s line-up for this term.
Therefore, Rashford is determined to raise his game for the 2020/21 campaign at Old Trafford.
“I missed four or five months and in my mind, I could have done much more this season. But for whatever reason, it didn’t happen,” the striker told the PA News Agency.
“I never lose touch with reality and I know next season, I have to come back better than I was last season.
“It was always my dream to play for Manchester United and to play as many games as I have is definitely a proud feeling. But as a player and as a person, it makes me want more and just to keep improving every day.”
