Mino Raiola blamed Sir Alex Ferguson for Paul Pogba’s way out of Manchester United back in 2012. Here’s what he said.
Mino Raiola lashed out at Sir Alex Ferguson while declaring that he would not care if he does not get to do business with Manchester United.
Disputes arose at Old Trafford over the years concerning Raiola, especially regarding the Red Devils midfielder Paul Pogba. If you don’t remember, the France international rejoined United in 2016 for a record transfer fee, but he had left for Juventus four years before that.
Ferguson had previously mentioned that Raiola had manipulated Pogba to make a move out of England. However, the super-agent refuses to accept the blame, and instead, he thinks that Sir Alex was the one responsible for the midfielder’s departure.
“When Ferguson criticised me, that was my biggest compliment anybody could give me,” Raiola told The Athletic. “Ferguson is used to people coming in and [saying]: ‘Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir’.
“All I have to say that when Ferguson left Manchester United the club’s owner [the Glazers], by buying back Paul Pogba, told me that I was right. Because I didn’t want to take Paul Pogba away. [Ferguson] didn’t believe in Paul Pogba.”
“So when Ferguson says: ‘I don’t like him’, it’s the biggest compliment that I could have. It’s like saying Sepp Blatter says: ‘I don’t like him’. Fantastic. I don’t care what Ferguson says.”
Raiola has a rather rude response when asked about his relationship with United. He said: “I don’t give a f*ck if I never do another player with Manchester United. I’m not in their hands.”
“I’m independent. We have only one party that we take care of: our players. And as long as our players like us, you do what you have to do.”
