Former Barcelona manager, Quique Setien finally broke his silence after being sacked by Barcelona. He is taking them to court.

FC Barcelona is right in the middle of a nasty legal battle against manager Quique Setien. The former coach was sacked by the club right after the 8-2 elimination against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

After Setien apparently left the club, Barça decided to announce Ronald Koeman’s arrival without properly ending Setien’s contract. This left serious ramifications that today became public and left the club’s board with yet another scandal in their hands.

The manager took to social media to explain the situation. As it turns out, Barcelona refuses to pay him the rest of the season as they previously agreed if he was sacked.

Setien has every intention of taking this battle to court and getting his full payday. Moreover, the rest of his technical staff is set to be relocated instead of getting their own severance package.

Setien’s statement in full.

The manager wrote the following statement on Twitter: “After a month of absolute silence on the part of the FC Barcelona board, and after various requirements on our part, it was not until yesterday that we received the first official communications [of our dismissal].

“These communications reveal the clear intention of the board not to comply with its labor contracts dated 14/01/2020.”

“In my case, it is public and well-known that on August 17 both the club and the president announced my dismissal with immediate effects.

“However, it was not until yesterday, September 16 (a month later), when I was first referred to the written communication of such a dismissal (without any settlement).”

“With respect to the rest of the technical staff, they communicate, that also yesterday, to our surprise, [they were informed of] a ‘future relocation’ in the club.”

“For all that, we have been forced to put this in the hands of our lawyers the solution of the conflict, needing to take the corresponding legal actions, in order to preserve our rights and what was agreed at the time with FC Barcelona.”
