Gregg Berhalter labels Christian Pulisic a ‘perfect’ player for Chelsea while praising him for quickly adapting to English football.
Christian Pulisic had his fair share of ups and downs after completing a €60 million move from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea, but managed to prove his worth by the end of his debut Premier League season.
Pulisic hit the ground running at Chelsea as his ‘perfect’ hat-trick against Burnley in October saw him become the club’s youngest player ever to score three times in a single match.
Fitness issues, however, prevented the American forward to continue his progress. He suffered an injury on New Years’ Day and only returned after the three-month coronavirus hiatus in June.
The 21-year old ended 2019/0 with an impressive 11 goals and 10 assists across 34 matches across all competitions while helping his side to secure Champions League qualification.
Pulisic’s national team coach believes that if the player continues on his current trajectory, he could go on to play for the likes of Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Bayern Munich.
Berhalter told Sport Bild: “Christian quickly got used to the speed and the more physical style of playing in England. He is a role model for all other US players in the Bundesliga whose goal is the Premier League.
“Christian is perfect for Chelsea. All dangerous offensive actions run through him, he shines as a goalscorer and as a preparer.
“If Christian maintains this level, he can also play for the biggest clubs in the world like Bayern, Barcelona or Real Madrid without any problems.”
