PSG issued a statement saying they are fully in support of Neymar after he accused Marseille’s Alvaro Gonzalez of racially abusing him.

Neymar was one of a staggering five players sent off in PSG’s loss to Marseille on Sunday.

For the reigning Ligue 1 champions, it didn’t make for good reading as it became their second consecutive loss of the season.

Losing alone was bad enough but it ended up worse for Les Parisiens. The game ended in a fiery brawl and Neymar was one of the five players sent off in the final stages of the game.

Cameras caught the Brazilian claiming he was racially abused by Marseille star Alvaro Gonzalez.

After the game, Neymar took things further when he said he ‘regretted’ not hitting Gonzalez in the face.

Of course, the Marseille star responded and branded the PSG superstar a ‘sore’ loser.

Amidst the ongoing saga, PSG released a statement saying they fully support their player regarding the whole incident.

“Paris Saint-Germain strongly supports Neymar Jr. who reported being subjected to racist abuse by an opposing player,” the club said in a statement on their website.

“The club restates that there is no place for racism in society, in football or in our lives and calls on everyone to speak out against all forms of racism throughout the world.

“For more than 15 years the club has been strongly committed to the fight against all forms of discrimination alongside its partners SOS Racisme, Licra and Sportitude.

“Paris Saint-Germain looks forward to the LFP’s Disciplinary Commission to investigate and ascertain the facts, and the club remains at the LFP’s disposal for any assistance required.”

Gonzalez faces a lenghty-ban if he is indeed found guilty of the claims from Neymar. Sadly, the PSG man could also get a similar punishment for ‘violently’ hitting the Marseille star.
