Alvaro Gonzalez defended himself from Neymar accusing him of racism by stating he has never condoned such behavior in his ‘clean career’.

Alvaro found himself in the center of a massive brawl between Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille players in Sunday night’s Le Classique.

Five players got their marching orders as result of the mayhem in Leandro Paredes, Layvin Kurzawa, Jordan Amavi, Dario Benedetto, and lastly Neymar.

The Brazilian’s dismissal was by far the most controversial after VAR caught him hitting Alvaro on the back of the head. He was then caught on the microphone accusing the Marseille defender of racism to the fourth match official.

After PSG fell to a 1-0 defeat to their rivals at home, ensuring their worst start to a Ligue 1 campaign since 1984/85, Neymar furiously took to social media to express his disgust of Alvaro’s alleged racial remarks against him.

Now the former Espanyol and Villarreal man has defended himself from Neymar’s allegations on social media with a brief statement along with a picture of himself with his Marseille teammates.

“There is no place for racism,” Alvaro wrote on Twitter.

“A clean career and with many teammates and friends on a day-to-day basis. Sometimes you have to learn how to lose and accept it on the field. Incredible three points today, Allez l’OM thank you family.”

Florian Thauvin’s first-half goal, meanwhile, was enough to bag all three points for Marseille on Sunday. They’ve won both their opening games of the new Ligue 1 season and will next face Saint-Etienne at home on Thursday.

PSG coach Thomas Tuchel also weighed in on the events in the French capital.
