The French striker has struggled to find his rhythm under Luis Enrique this season.
Didier Deschamps has admitted that Kylian Mbappe is out of form after Paris Saint-Germain’s humiliating defeat against Newcastle on Wednesday.
Mbappe failed to make a shot on target as PSG lost their second Champions League game of the season 4-1 at St. James’ Park. It was another disappointing display from the Parisians, who sit fifth in Ligue 1 after claiming only 12 points from their first seven league matches of the season.
“Mbappe is not in his best form, obviously reflecting the results of his club,” the France manager said.
“Kylian, with everything he is capable of doing, the influence on his team, has a big impact. Is it because of his summer preparation where he didn’t have a normal pre-season?”
Despite PSG’s poor start to the season, Mbappe has scored eight goals in his eight appearances across all competitions. Deschamps insists he is not worried about the striker’s form.
He added: “I have no concerns about Kylian, his desire, his competitive mindset. He himself cannot be satisfied with what he does. Even when he does things well, he wants to do better. There are still matches this weekend and the two matches with France.”
Mbappe is set to join France for their upcoming matches against Netherlands and Scotland.
