Lionel Messi has been called for duty with Argentina ahead of World Cup qualifying fixtures, but the PSG chief is unhappy with the decision.
Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has been furious with Argentina for selecting Lionel Messi for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
While digesting a slow start to the new season in Paris, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner has been suffering from knee and hamstring issues.
Despite his ongoing recovery, Albiceleste have made the decision to call up Messi for their meetings with Brazil and Uruguay.
And PSG chief does not think there is a need to ask Messi to play while he is going through rehabilitation at the club level.
Leonardo told Le Parisien: “We do not agree to let a player go by selection who, for us, is not in physical condition. Or who is in the rehabilitation phase.
“It is not logical, and these types of situations deserve a real agreement with FIFA.”
Believe it or not, Leo has missed nine games in the 2021-22 campaign due to lack of agility and several other problems.
Moreover, the 34-year-old has yet to bag a goal for the PSG in Ligue 1 but has been struggling because of different setbacks.
