“Leo Messi presents with hamstring discomfort on the left and knee pain following a contusion.” the club’s statement reads.
Messi picked up a knock during PSG’s 2-1 victory against Marseille last week.
The club have not provided an exact date for the 34-year-old’s return. However, according to reports from French media, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner might miss more than one game.
How has Messi performed at PSG?
The new injury will further delay Messi’s return to top form. The Argentina international has delivered two great performances for the Parisians in the Champions League, scoring three goals. However, the former Barcelona star is yet to register his first goal or assist in Ligue 1.
Following their game against Leipzig, PSG will face Bordeaux in their next Ligue 1 game. It remains to be seen whether Pochettino will have Messi at his disposal for that game.
