Parc des Princes was the place where PSG got a visit from Manchester City in the Champions League. We have tonight’s player ratings.

An electrifying night at Parc des Princes was expecting us between PSG and Manchester City in the Champions League. Mauricio Pochettino and Pep Guardiola met in the semifinal for the second time in the last two seasons. The first time they met, Mauricio coached Tottenham Hotspur and eliminated Pep in a memorable semifinal. This time around, the Argentine manager faced Pep against the PSG coach with an entirely different roster.

During the first half, the locals had a handful of incredible chances that could’ve tipped the scale in their favor. In fact, Marquinhos scored the opening goal that gave PSG the advantage. But they didn’t manage to kill off the Citizens when they had the chance. All Guardiola needed was the break to get his players together and focused. Things were very different during the second half and PSG missed their chance to make a difference.

City tames Neymar and Mbappe.

Pep wanted to set the records straight during the second half as Man City has proven they are the most dominant club in football right now. After a forgettable first half, the English club players were determined to squash a weak PSG team that only had one gimmick. To be fair, all Pochettino had to compete was Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. Guardiola realized that as long as those two players are tamed, City had a good chance to win at Parc des Princes.

Both goals for the Citizens came through two defensive mistakes from the French squad. Kevin De Bruyne scored through a pass-turned shot that Keylor Navas wasn’t able to prevent with 25 minutes left on the clock. The second goal came through a Riyad Mahrez free-kick in which the defensive barrier blocked Navas’ field of vision. With a 1-2 result, Manchester City is almost in the final that will take place in Istanbul.
