Parc des Princes was the place where PSG received a visit from Bayern Munich in the UCL. We have tonight’s player ratings for everybody.
After a massive win at Allianz Arena last week, PSG had a relatively easier task against Bayern Munich at Parc des Princes. All they needed was to score a single goal in order to force the reigning champions to score two goals. In the first half, Neymar showed signs of total recovery and return to form with two shots straight to the posts. He wasn’t able to score his goal but he played impressive football during the first 45 minutes.
Bayern looked weak on the attack without Robert Lewandowski, a player the Bavarians sorely missed. Although Choupo-Moting scored again tonight, his lonely goal still fell short from the result Bayern Munich wanted. They controlled the game throughout the 90 minutes but they lacked the perfect aim that Lewandowski always gives them. Leroy Sane was great on the dribbling but terrible on the finishing or last pass.
PSG can’t score the equalizer.
The second half was very different for both sides as PSG players seemed dramatically more tired. Bayern Munich was impressive on the ball control but they weren’t able to score that second goal they needed. Both Neymar and Mbappe were also too tired to get a fresh goal that would force the opposition to score two.
In the end, the French giants suffered in a major way to get this result. This is not a surprise considering they were still facing Bayern Munich in a quarterfinal stage. At the final whistle, Neymar and company celebrated as if they just won the trophy. They wanted some revenge from the previous final they lost against the Bavarian giants and they got it.
