The Premier League awards for the best player, manager, and goal have been announced for the month of January 2022.

Player of the Month – David de Gea 🇪🇸

The 31-year-old Spaniard has become the first goalkeeper since Southampton’s Fraser Forster in February 2016 to win the Premier League’s Player of the Month.

De Gea was simply outstanding in January. He made 22 saves in total across Manchester United’s four matches – five in the 1-0 defeat to Wolves, seven in the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa, eight in the 3-1 win over Brentford, and two in the 1-0 win over West Ham – to win his first Player of the Month award.

Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Jack Harrison (Leeds), Joao Moutinho (Wolves), and James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) were also nominated for the prize.

Manager of the Month – Bruno Lage 🇵🇹

Bruno Lage has won his first Manager of the Month in the Premier League. He is the first Wolves coach to do so since Nuno Espirito Santo in December 2020.

The 45-year-old Portuguese continued his remarkable debut campaign in January. Under his leadership, Wolves won all three of their league games. They even beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford, leaving them two points outside the top-six in the standings.

Lage beat Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool), and Dean Smith (Norwich City) in a four-man shortlist for the award.

Goal of the Month – Mateo Kovacic 🇭🇷

The 27-year-old Croatian has won his first Goal of the Month award for a stunning volley against Liverpool.

From two goals down, Mateo Kovacic sparked a first-half Chelsea comeback by unleashing a perfect looping volley into the back of the Liverpool net. Christian Pulisic then equalized three minutes later to ensure a 2-2 draw on January 2.

Below is the list of other Goal of the Month nominees in the Premier League.
