The Premier League awards for the best player, manager, and goal have been announced for the month of February 2022.

Player of the Month – Joel Matip (Liverpool)

Joel Matip has become the first Cameroonian to win the Premier League’s Player of the Month award.

The defender didn’t miss a minute of Liverpool’s four games in February and contributed at both ends of the pitch, helping the Reds keep three clean sheets while chipping in a goal and assist.

Matip pipped Wilfried Zaha, Harry Kane, Che Adams, Ryan Fraser, and Ben Mee for the prize.

Manager of the Month – Eddie Howe (Newcastle)

Eddie Howe has beaten Mikel Arteta, Ralph Hasenhuttl, and Jurgen Klopp to the Manager of the Month award.

It’s the fourth time Howe has claimed the accolade after a fine month in charge at St. James’ Park. Newcastle went unbeaten in February, winning three times and drawing once in four games. The result lifted the Magpies out of the relegation zone for the first time since September!

Goal of the Month – Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)

Wilfried Zaha has become the first Crystal Palace player since Andros Townsend in December 2018 to win the Goal of the Month.

The Ivorian winger won the award for the first time after a magnificent curling strike against Norwich City. He collected the ball out on the left, cut inside, beat Przemyslaw Placheta, and whipped it into the far corner to grab Palace a crucial equalizer at Carrow Road.

Neal Maupay (vs Watford), Cristiano Ronaldo (vs Brighton), Sadio Mane (vs Norwich), Conor Gallagher (vs Watford), Oriol Romeu (vs Norwich), Son Heung-min (vs Leeds), and Matty Cash (vs Brighton) were also nominated.
