Chelsea fans openly jeered the Blues as their poor start to the season continued at the weekend.

Mauricio Pochettino knows why the fans showered Chelsea with boos after Sunday’s disappointing 0-0 draw at Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Yet, Pochettino remains steadfast in his belief that it will not affect the way he manages his team. The Chelsea coach wants the fans to understand that, as several key players are out with injuries at the moment.

“What I can tell the fans is the circumstance, that we cannot change, the reality we cannot change,” he said in a post-match press conference.

“We have too many players [out]. Of course, we are a team that will be strong if we are all together. Even Manchester City, Arsenal, [and] all the teams, with normal circumstances with all the squad fit of course can compete for everything.

“Why is it different for us? Why? It is because of what? We don’t have all the squad available from the beginning of the season.

“What can we do? For me, I have nothing to say.”

Who was absent for the Blues?

Notable names like Marcus Bettinelli, Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Marc Cucurella, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Moises Caicedo were all unavailable for Chelsea at the weekend.

“We had 12 injured today, plus Noni [Madueke], Cucurella and Caicedo,” Pochettino pointed out.

“Then we have three/four young guys and two keepers on the bench. Okay, am I going to cry, am I going to complain? I need to accept this, the challenge and keep being positive.”

The 0-0 draw at Bournemouth has left Chelsea 14th in the Premier League table. They’ve only won one of their opening five games, drawing and losing two times each.

The Blues will return to action this Sunday at home to Aston Villa in the league.
