We all wanted to know if Kylian Mbappe is playing this weekend or not from Mauricio Pochettino himself. The Argentine manager got the bad news that one of his best players got an injury scare ahead of such an important match. His problems are mostly muscular and there is still no clear confirmation to see whether he will be part of the squad or not. However, he will travel with the squad in order to possibly get some minutes.
Mauricio Pochettino remains hopeful that Mbappe can recover in due time to deliver another stellar away performance like the ones at Allianz Arena and Camp Nou this season. Kylian remains as one of PSG’s most important players when the team travels to other stadiums. Despite having Neymar completely recovered from his problems, Mbappe is the one who can actually make a difference at Etihad Stadium.
Does Pochettino expect a recovered Mbappe?
In today’s press conference ahead of the game, Mauricio Pochettino spoke about the team’s chances to defeat Pep Guardiola’s squad. They do have a one-goal disadvantage but they are going to go after the result despite the situation. If Mbappe does recover in due time, his side’s chances dramatically increase with him on the pitch.
Pochettino understands how important the French forward has been for PSG this season. In statements picked up by Goal, this is what Pochettino had to say: “We still have to assess the situation with Kylian. Today he’s going to train on his own and we will see if he can do it with the group at the end. We have one day left. We still haven’t made a decision.”
