Miralem Pjanic tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday, after falling ill briefly. The club says he is in good health and recovering at home.

Barcelona have confirmed that Pjanic has tested positive for Covid-19. The club confirmed that the 30-year-old midfielder is in good health while isolating at home.

According to Marca, the midfielder is the third player from the Catalan club to test positive for COVID-19 in recent weeks after Samuel Umtiti and Jean-Clair Todibo.

“Miralem Pjanic has tested positive in a PCR taken on Saturday, August 22, after feeling a little unwell,” Barcelona said in a statement.

“The player is in good health and is self-isolating at home.”The player will, therefore, not be travelling to Barcelona for 15 days, when he will be expected to report for duty with the Barcelona team.”

Pjanic will now miss the start of pre-season on August 31 and will not be able to begin training until September 7. He joined Juventus from Roma in 2016 and won four Serie A and two Coppa Italia titles in Turin.

Pjanic joined Barcelona from Juventus in the summer in a deal worth 60 million Euros payable over four years. He is expected to play a crucial role in the Catalan giants’ midfield next season.
