Barcelona have made offloading the likes of Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic the club’s top priority for the summer transfer window.

Suarez, 33, is entering the autumn of his career, which has undoubtedly affected his on-field performances during the 2019/20 season.

Even though he finished the last term with 21 goals and 12 assists under his belt, several injury setbacks and evident weight issues prevented the Uruguayan from showcasing his best form.

An utterly disappointing season, by all means, saw Barcelona take radical steps towards restoring their status of the La Liga and European supreme force.

After making notable changes in sporting management, the Catalan giants are now looking to overhaul an aging squad.

Many first-team stars, who have been carrying Barca through thick and thin over the years, will be shown the door, with the name of Luis Suarez headlining the list.

Despite being seemingly keen on extending his adventure at Camp Nou, the ex-Liverpool forward’s days in La Liga are reportedly numbered.

According to Spanish publication Marca, Suarez and Ivan Rakitic have been deemed surplus to requirements and will be on their way out of the club this summer.

Arguably one of the best strikers of his generation, the Salto native has been virtually untenable since swapping Anfield for Camp Nou in 2014.

During his six-year spell with the Spanish powerhouse, he has smashed triple digits for both goals and assists, clocking up 198 goals and 109 assists in 283 appearances.

Suarez’s former employers Ajax are assessing the possibility of re-hiring the Uruguay international on a bargain deal.

Meanwhile, Rakitic, who joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2014, has a host of admirers in Spain and Europe.

The 32-year-old midfielder has played a prominent role in driving Barca to abundant domestic and European success but has seen his influence dwindle this year.
