Inter Milan faced the ignominy of final defeat in Europa League against competition specialists Sevilla at the Rhein Energie STADION.

Antonio Conte had implored his charges to make history in Europa League. Diego Godin had similar sentiments to share. All the talk proved to no avail as Sevilla secured their sixth UEFA Cup/Europa League title.

Lautaro Martinez was Inter Milan’s savior during the course of the 2019/20 season. However, the Argentine could not help his side overcome the Spanish side.

The dust had barely settled on their traumatic defeat that Martinez’s future has been called into question. Marca reported that Barcelona have opened negotiations to secure the prolific attacker.

It will not be an easy task as Inter know that the Catalan side are desperate. With Lionel Messi wanting a move away from the club, Blaugrana need to make positive splashes.

Martinez’s acquisition will so to that.

Earlier in the summer, 111 million Euros release clause expired. Barcelona will be looking to negotiate a value less than that. While Inter Milan will see to it that they get value for their star player’s departure.

Alongside Martine’s reported move away, Conte’s long term stay at San Siro is under the clouds. The Italian does not feel appreciated by the Nerazzurri and will have clear their air talks with the management.
