Andrea Pirlo has opened up on Paulo Dybala and his ‘angry’ reaction towards being benched in Juventus’ 1-1 draw at Crotone.

Dybala, who is yet to play for Juventus at all this season, was left to settle for a bench spot in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw away to Crotone.

Pirlo’s refusal to start, or play him for that matter, left the Argentine frustrated at the end of the game. Reports stated he confronted the club’s chief football officer Fabio Paratici over the matter later on.

Although Pirlo, aware of Dybala’s muscular injury on international duty recently, decided the best course of action was to give him some game time towards the end. However, Federico Chiesa’s dismissal changed his plans.

“I talked to him [Dybala] yesterday as I do to everyone else,” said the Juve boss in a press conference on Monday.

“He was a bit angry for not having played in Crotone but we have to remember that he hasn’t played for three months.

“He spent 10 days in his room in Argentina taking medicines because he couldn’t train.

“I took him to Crotone to let him do a few minutes but unfortunately there were 10 of us left and I couldn’t add him. He is available and we will see what to do.”

Dybala will hope to make his first start of the season in Juventus’ Champions League opener away to Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday evening.
