During a Twitch interview with Ibai Llanos, Gerard Pique finally opened up about the terrible relationship Barcelona players had with Bartomeu.

Regular journalists would’ve never gotten what Ibai Llanos got from Gerard Pique about Bartomeu. In order to get this type of information, the footballer has to feel comfortable about opening up on certain topics of conversation. Since Ibai is a streamer who also exposes himself to the media, Pique feels identified with him enough to grant him a full-length conversation.

Until today, we hadn’t heard an honest opinion about the falling out Barcelona had with the former president. We’ve all heard about the constant disagreements between Bartomeu and many of the heavy hitters inside the Barcelona dressing room. The constant bad decisions in regards to transfers and simply the lack of connection. For Gerard Pique, talking about the former president is complicated because he still respects him despite everything that happened.

Pique opens up about Bartomeu’s failures.

During a Twitch conversation with streamer Ibai Llanos, Pique said: “It’s a difficult situation. In my view, a president must attempt to manage the club in a way he can make decisions and solve problems when needed. When you don’t do that, you create a snowball effect. Problems don’t solve by themselves but you have to grab the bull by the balls. There were moments in which the club needed better leadership, more presence. I’ve always had a polite relationship with him.

“As a person, I really don’t think he has bad intentions. However, he needed to have certain virtues in order to lead a transatlantic such as FC Barcelona. I’ve had experiences of things you simply don’t understand, which is far above your paygrade. Misunderstandings were created from this, many issues… Little by little, the problem kept growing and it blew out of proportion. I told him many times to visit us at the training facility because we needed to talk. He never showed up.”
