Gerard Pique turns 34 years old today, we already wished him a happy birthday earlier on Tuesday. However, the player himself wanted to share the present he gave to himself on this very special occasion. As it turns out, he is back early from his recovery process after suffering a serious knee ligament injury that kept him away for months.
During last November’s match against Atletico Madrid, Pique fell injured with a serious issue on his right knee and we didn’t hear from him for a while. Now that he is finally getting back to optimal physical condition, the player also made a return on his social media accounts. As a way to celebrate his own birthday, Pique posted a video of himself already sprinting towards his full recovery with the following caption: “The best gift. I’m back!”
When can Gerard Pique return to play?
After today’s news of his return to training, we all wonder when Gerard Pique can actually return to play an official match. Well, Marca reports that Ronald Koeman will wait for him until a week before FC Barcelona’s match against PSG in the Champions League. This will take place at Camp Nou on February 16.
The Dutch manager still has hopes to play Pique next to Ronald Araujo at the back if the Catalan defender gets fully recovered from his injury. We can only sit back and wait for his development with hope he got completely past this injury setback. If he returns to his best level, Gerard Pique can become one of the winter’s top transfers for the Catalan club.
