Hojbjerg joined Spurs from Southampton a fortnight ago and is relieved he made the right decision in moving to North London.

Slowly but surely, Jose Mourinho is making his impression on Tottenham Hotspur. Now overseeing his second transfer window at the club, he is adding the players that he wants.

Players the complement his ideology and will help take Spurs to silverware contenders. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is one of these players.

The Dane arrived from Southampton in a €16.6 million deal and is already showing why the Special One added him to his ranks.

Tottenham played a club-friendly against Ipswich Town, with Hojbjerb getting 64 minutes on the pitch. The Copenhagen native came in early and was impressed with the dressing room environment.

He gave a good account of himself and did not shy away from his appreciation for his new surroundings.

“I came a couple of hours before the game with the whole squad, and it was just fantastic to be here,” the Danish midfielder told Tottenham’s official website. “Again, it’s confirmation that I’m in the right place.”

Reflecting on the fixture, Hojbjerg was modest in his evaluation and shared there is more to come from their group.

“The game was okay,” Pierre reflected. “I think we made some good steps forward, but we still have a lot to do. What we tried to do in the week, what the coach wanted us to do, we tried to work on today and I think we had some moments where we did it well, and some moments where we need to do it better.”

“Luckily, this is what pre-season games are for. This is us, this is who we want to be, this is who we are, and we still have steps to take. It was an okay start.”
