The hate on Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has continued after his recent tackle that would now keep Van Dijk out for a number of months.

It might just be football but for some it might mean so much more. Some set of Liverpool fans might have turned to the latter given their recent treatment of Jordan Pickford.

During the Merseyside derby, the Everton goalie rushed out to make a tackle that ended up much worse than he anticipated. Virgil van Dijk was on the receiving end of things and he now faces being out for the rest of the season after an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Losing their most influential name in their defence was no doubt a bitter pill to swallow for Liverpool fans. They have taken their frustrations on the Everton goalkeeper.

Since then, Pickford has received insults and all forms of abuse on his social media accounts all over.

It appears things might be worse even. The Daily Mail now claim that the Everton man has been forced to hire protection for his family after receiving death threats.

The report says Pickford has created a ‘ring of steel’ with bodyguards keeping a close eye on him, his wife Megan and one-year-old son.

Furthermore, the Everton man and his family have been advised to stay off social media temporarily to avoid letting people know their location in any way.

It gets more painful for Liverpool fans with Fabinho the latest to suffer another injury as well.
