Bayern Munich will not break the bank for Philippe Coutinho, with the creative attacker hoping for better conditions under Ronald Koeman.
Philippe Coutinho returns to Catalonia after winning the Champions League. Barcelona were one of his successes affectees, the Brazilian scoring a brace and laying down an assist in their 2-8 thrashing.
The defeat started chaos at the Camp Nou. Quique Setien has been sacked, Eric Abidal resigned, Ronald Koeman is the new manager and Lionel Messi wants out.
All this turmoil can prove to be beneficial for Coutinho, whose exploits in Bavaria can propel his stature. Brazil legend, Rivaldo, shared that all the outgoings at Camp Nou will allow his compatriot to make a place for himself.
The 2002 World Cup winner believes Countiho still has the qualities that made him a darling of European football with Liverpool. He believes he will feature in Koeman’s plans and can add value with Messi and Suarez leaving.
“We all know about Coutinho’s qualities and that’s why Barcelona paid a considerable amount for his services in 2018,” Rivaldo said in an interview with BetFair. “I believe he still has the ability to succeed at Camp Nou.”
“Koeman seems to be counting on him for next season and that’s very important for a player’s confidence – knowing that the manager has faith on you.”
“Furthermore, Countinho has successfully recovered from a tough injury this season and even contributed to Bayern’s Champions League triumph, so his confidence should be higher than before.”
“Without Messi and Suarez, Coutinho could get the chance to step up and become a key player for Barca.”
While Coutinho returns to Barcelona, there are other outgoings expected at Bayern Munich. Thiago Alcantara is edging towards the exit door, while Davide Alaba is also seeking new adventures.
