The Portugal international has been linked with a move to Camp Nou all summer.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hasn’t ruled out a transfer for Bernardo Silva after admitting that Barcelona is a club that the midfielder ‘likes very much’.
The former AS Monaco star has been a topic of interest for Barcelona all summer. But as things stand, City are determined to hold on to their player ahead of the final week of the current transfer window.
To his credit, Silva remains undeterred by the doubts over his future. The 28-year-old is still a key part of Guardiola’s squad and started in Wednesday’s 3-3 friendly draw against Barcelona.
“We count on him and I do not want him [Silva] to leave,” Guardiola told reporters after the match at Camp Nou. “He is a superlative player in everything [he does].
“But as I have always said: I do not want a player to be unhappy. If a good offer came, he wanted to leave and there was an agreement, we would see.
“Although, if he left now, it would be a problem, because the market is about to close. With that said, Bernardo likes Barcelona very much.”
Silva, who is under contract at City until June 2025, has managed one and one assist in three Premier League games so far this season.
Guardiola’s side return to action on Saturday for a home fixture against Crystal Palace in the league.
