Gary Neville believes Pep Guardiola has highlighted the main factor that distinguishes Manchester City and Manchester United.

Pep Guardiola delivered a pointed remark aimed at Manchester United’s hierarchy following Manchester City’s convincing 3-0 victory over their city rivals on Sunday.

In a post-match conference, Guardiola underlined the stark contrast between the Manchester clubs. He remarked on the leadership, emphasizing the unity and stability in City’s organizational structure.

His remarks did not go unnoticed by Neville. The former United defender took to X to claim the City manager made a pointed dig at the Red Devils board with his comments.

What did Guardiola say?

“I think I’ve said many times we [City] are in the same direction – the chairman, the CEO, the sporting director, the manager and the players,” Guardiola said.

“We go there, wrong or right, it doesn’t matter, we [all] go there. We make mistakes, of course, when we lose or the situation is not going well, we are not here to blame someone, it’s just, ‘Okay, what do we have to do better? What happened? Is the opponent getting better or are we getting worse?’. Find a solution, that is nice.”

“We have done [it] many times,” he added.

“When another opponent beats you, you congratulate them and we try it again. That’s why I think the club, the organisation, is so stable.”

Two goals from Erling Haaland and a late strike by Phil Foden secured a dominant win for City at Old Trafford.
