The Citizens claimed an easy win at Old Trafford.

Manchester City defeated Manchester United 3-0 in their Premier League game on Sunday. The Red Devils were dominated in their home stadium as City won the Manchester derby.

What happened?

An exciting start to the game saw both sides pushing for an early opener. But it was City who ultimately managed to break the deadlock in the 26th minute.

Following a needless foul by Rasmus Hojlund, the referee awarded the visitors a penalty, which was calmly converted by Erling Haaland.

City had two golden chances to increase their lead before the half-time whistle, but both of them were saved by Andre Onana.

After the break, it only took the visitors four minutes to finally score the second goal. Haaland completed his brace by heading home an inch-perfect cross from Bernardo Silva.

United’s backline came under more pressure after the goal as City completely dominated the possession. However, more saves by Onana delayed City’s third goal.

The Citizens finally made it 3-0 when Haaland’s unselfish short pass inside the six-yard box was nodded home by Phil Foden. The victory keeps City within touching distance of Tottenham at the top of the league table while United stay eighth.
