After a convincing victory against Burnley, Pep Guardiola still wanted to warn about his players possibly losing the joy to perform.

When a manager like Pep Guardiola sends this type of warning about his players, it probably means the powers that be have to listen. We’ve seen a trend of managers who win matches in a convincing manner. They still complain about the inhumane schedules during a global pandemic.

We all witnessed Jurgen Klopp doing the same thing after winning last Sunday against Leicester City with a 3-0 result. It was Pep Guardiola’s time to respond to this crisis that all football players are going through. Contrary to Klopp, Pep wanted to appeal to the more humane side of broadcasters and FIFA.

Instead of trying to demand anything, Pep spoke about the psychological effects these busy schedules can have on all players. Even though they get paid millions to play football, most ballers started doing this for the love of the game.

Pep sends a stern warning about footballers.

During an exchange with the Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola revealed the consequences that could come if the calendar doesn’t change. Playing football as an obligation is not why all players signed up for this profession. Pep knows this first-hand: “The problem today is the players lose the joy of playing football.

“Before it was nice playing football once or twice a week with spectators. Now it’s three days and then another one. We will travel to Porto to win, then prepare against Fulham. It’s not about rotation now. The players who don’t make mistakes – like John Stones in defence – deserve to play more games.

“The goals today helps us, of course – especially for Riyad Mahrez. Gabriel Jesus has to score goals. (Raheem) Sterling when he plays has to score. They have to score more goals. That is why they are here. It depends on the player, their performance on the pitch.”
