In an impressive display against Burnley, Riyad Mahrez got to score his first hat-trick as a Manchester City player at Etihad Stadium.

Riyad Mahrez started off Saturday with a stellar performance for Manchester City against Burnley. The Algerian winger arrived at his current club during a summer in which Pep Guardiola hardly made any transfer movements.

However, his level of performance at Manchester City is what convinced the Catalan manager he was a great choice for them. After a couple of years trying to get the best of his performances, Riyad Mahrez finally had a hat-trick night under his belt at City. Things started off perfectly with an easy tap-in after a generous assist from Kevin De Bruyne.

But Mahrez’s second goal was absolutely brilliant after clearing his own path from defenders inside the box. As he got a throw-in from Walker, he released a potent shot to the top corner that allowed him to get his brace.

After De Bruyne’s second assist of the evening to Mendy, Manchester City went to half-time with a comfortable 3-0 lead. The third goal came from Mendy after a beautiful cross from the Belgian maestro. When the second half started, it took City 20 minutes to get that fourth goal in a chance created by Riyad Mahrez but finished by Ferran Torres.

However, to cap it all off. The Algeria international scored his hat-trick with a header after a perfect assist from Phil Foden. With these three goals, Mahrez reached 61 in the Premier League and 41 assists to become the sixth African player to contribute with more than 100 Premier League goals. It is a night that the former Leicester City player will never forget.
