Kevin De Bruyne produced an influential performance during his side’s return to the Premier League, leaving Pep Guardiola, among others, in awe.

Kevin De Bruyne was at the end of most of the good things for Manchester City when they took to the pitch at Molineux on Monday night to become the last Premier League team to start the 2020/21 season.

The Belgian playmaker converted a penalty, which he himself won, at the 20-minute mark to put his side on the front foot.

He then also played a part in his side’s second and third goal as he found Raheem Sterling with an exquisite through ball who then set up Phil Foden, before assisting Gabriel Jesus to round off the 3-1 win against Wolves.

The reigning PFA Player of the Year deservedly picked up the Man of the Match award, and Pep Guardiola, speaking after the match, could not help himself but sing praises of his player.

“Right now, he is an incredibly important player for us,” said Guardiola, according to MEN. “He always was but with the situation we are in now, he is so important.

“He played really well, shot an incredible penalty, he was strong and he did it perfectly. The amount of assists, how he runs. He played really well, like the whole team.

“He likes to play football, he doesn’t feel pressure, he likes to compete in high standard and is an important player for us.”
