The Catalan giants stretched their league winning streak to four games on the bounce against the relegation-threatened side on Monday.
Pedri declared that FC Barcelona won’t back down in their fight for the La Liga title following their dominant 4-1 victory against Huesca.
Lionel Messi opened as well as closed the scoring to mark his special occasion with a brace while Antoine Grizmann and Oscar Mingueza also got on the scoresheet for the hosts.
Barcelona leapfrogged bitter rivals Real Madrid into second place after the win and are now within touching distance of league leaders Atletico Madrid.
“We added the three points that were important and we are four behind Atletico,” Pedri told post-match, via Marca.
“I have always said that we would not give up on the title. We have a good team to choose from. I prefer to focus on us, to keep improving.”
Pedri received his first-ever call-up to the senior national side on Monday when Spain manager Luis Enrique included him in the squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Greece, Georgia, and Kosovo.
“I was at home when I got the news and it’s a proud moment to be able to represent my country,” the 18-year-old added.
“Everything is happening very quickly and I know I must keep working hard.”
