A mathematician at Oxford University has revealed who are the 10 greatest players of all-time and crowned Cristiano Ronaldo as the GOAT.
Dr. Tom Crawford, a mathematician at Oxford University, claims he has proof that Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest player in history using a ‘G.O.A.T index’.
Picking the greatest player of all time, aka ‘The GOAT’, or any top performer in a sport, can be a tough one. Most football fans can agree the title is between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. But deciding on who it should be has drawn mixed verdicts from players, managers and legends alike.
So in an attempt to settle the debate, LiveScore turned to maths by teaming up with Dr. Crawford. The collaboration gave birth to a ‘G.O.A.T index’ that places Ronaldo as the greatest player ever.
The Portuguese ace scored a sound 100% rating, comfortably edging out second-place Messi’s 94%. Brazil legend Pele isn’t too far behind on 85% to complete the top three of history’s finest.

How did Dr. Crawford do it?
The mathematician first drew up a shortlist of 13 players to have won the Ballon d’Or at least twice. He then set the following seven categories: club titles, international titles, club goals, international goals, Ballon d’Or, records and Z-factor seasons.
Dr. Crawford awarded players points for each category and eventually deemed Ronaldo as the greatest player of all time.
