Life at Chelsea certainly hasn’t gone to plan since his big-money arrival, but Emerson remains ‘calm’ and optimistic after talks with Lampard.
Emerson Palmieri revealed Frank Lampard wants him to play and is willing to let him to leave Chelsea in January in order to do so.
The 26-year-old has struggled to win a spot in the Blues line-up since his €20m transfer from AS Roma in January 2018, making 59 appearances.
Ben Chilwell’s summer arrival from Leicester City has caused Emerson to slip further down the pecking order. He’s made just four appearances in all competitions this season, with only one of them coming as a starter.
“We have to wait, football this year is a bit strange as is the transfer market,” said Emerson on his future as quoted by Goal.
“Unfortunately, I am not playing much at Chelsea, but I am calm and I think things will improve, whether that is in London or elsewhere.
“The coach talked to me, he told me that the best thing is to play, let’s see what happens in two months if I have a place at Chelsea or for another team. We will see.”
A return to the Serie A has frequently been touted for the Italy international amid rumored interest from Juventus and Inter Milan.
“I’m calm, I have received interest, not only from Italy,” revealed Emerson.
“Nothing has been concrete, but obviously I’d love to return to Serie A.
“I do not know if it will happen in January or in five years, I can’t say. In football, everything changes too quickly.”
