The Citizens had a slow start to their previous season but gradually became utterly dominant as it progressed.
Pep Guardiola remembers Manchester City’s 2020-21 with nostalgia, saying the season was the “one of the best I have experienced in my life by far.”
Manchester City ran away with the Premier League title last time out, clinching the English top-flight crown by an outrageous 12-point margin.
A domestic double was achieved, with the team that went on an adventurous 15-match winning streak in the league and a breathtaking 28-game unbeaten streak across all competitions also winning the Football League Cup.
The Sky Blues even came within touching distance of creating club history by becoming kings of Europe for the very first time, only to lose the Champions League final to Chelsea.
“It was unbelievable. It was great,” said Guardiola during his pre-match press conference ahead of Man City’s Premier League season opener.
“It was an exceptional season, disappointed of course for losing the (Champions League) final but after one or few days when you are with your family you think how good it was.
“Among many things, how few injuries we have, always I believe when you have few injuries it’s because the medical department and physios as well as players want to be a part of it.
“It was an exceptional season, one of the best I have experienced in my life by far.
“We won two titles, arrived in the Champions League final and got to semi of the FA Cup. It was very good. I congratulate the team on what we did last season. It will be in our memories forever.”
