The French international Olivier Giroud has been on fire this week. After scoring four goals in Chelsea’s last Champions League game, he received high praise from an Arsenal legend.

The 34-year-old striker has had his ups-and-downs in the Premier League. Just two weeks ago, news of a possible exit from the London side seemed plausible. Giroud didn’t score a single goal for Chelsea in the league this season. Also, the player lost space in the squad with the arrival of Timo Werner.

However, the news clearly produced an effect on the French striker. Olivier Giroud scored five goals in the Champions League in one week, which earn him praise from one a former manager.

Arsene Wenger has always been a fan of Giroud, spending six seasons working alongside him. In his recent interview with CBS Sports, he highlights the player’s many qualities. In addition, the manager reveals why he has a lot of respect for him.

“Olivier Giroud has – apart from his footballing qualities – an absolutely strong mentality and strong motivational level and has qualities that nobody else has.”

Wenger claims his regular presence at France’s national team proves his worth: “There’s no coincidence, he has over 100 caps for France. Nobody gives you 100 caps to please you.”

Arsene’s statement is backed by the fact that Giroud is the second leading goalscorer for his national team. Moreover, the French international has scored a total of 34 goals in 98 appearances for the Blues.
