Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium was the place where Chelsea dominated Sevilla in the Champions League’s player ratings.

Chelsea visited Sevilla this evening at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium with Olivier Giroud as their main striker. The Frenchman had been demanding more opportunities and threatening to leave if he didn’t get them soon. To this effect, Frank Lampard saw tonight’s match against the Spanish side as a great opportunity to give Olivier his chance. It’s safe to say that the French international didn’t disappoint.

To open a great night for him, Giroud connected with Kai Havertz early in the first half. It looked like the game wasn’t going to be easy for either side but Giroud had other plans for the second half. This was when the striker went off on the scoreboard and gave us a spectacular performance. We’ve seen many great nights from this underrated striker, but perhaps this was the best of all.

Giroud gets a Poker.

Already in the second half, Giroud played a one-two with Kovacic to finish with a beautiful dink over the goalkeeper’s head. His hat-trick came through a header after a precise cross from N’Golo Kante with that French connection they share. However, Giroud still seemed determined to prove a point as he got taken down inside the box late in the game. He was the one who took the shot from the spot and delivered on his promise to Frank Lampard.

The English manager reacted with these words for him: “It was an amazing performance, to score four goals in the Champions League is a fantastic achievement. I am delighted for him. We knew we had to get balls into him and I think to make nine changes in the game it was about players who deserved a chance.

The concentration and dealt with any issues. Some of our play was great. There were so many pluses. He is the ultimate professional. He wasn’t always a regular, but his performances have shown that he is a great sign for young players to keep training well. It was a complete performance.”
