Pending on official confirmation, Diego Simeone closed the deal for another Uruguay player at Atletico Madrid. He comes from Arsenal.

Simeone’s Uruguay armada is getting bigger at Atletico Madrid. The Colchoneros just signed a new player from the small South American country on deadline day. With Luis Suarez as their star transfer of the window, Atleti still had some interesting work to do. Diego Simeone has always been in tune with players from Uruguay, they represent his fighting spirit perfectly.

Over the years, the Spanish club has some illustrious names from that country who represented them with honor. Perhaps the most familiar players are Diego Forlan or Diego Godin. Today, Atletico only has Josema Gimenez and Luis Suarez. But that changes today, Simeone managed to secure another Uruguay international to his armada.

We are talking about the midfielder, Lucas Torreira. The short maestro comes from Arsenal on a one-year loan with a buyout option after one season. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal on his official Twitter account. The paperwork was already signed and Atletico Madrid will confirm it any time in the next hour.

Torreira medical test, a success.

There are leaked images of Lucas Torreira posing in a picture with an Atletico Madrid facemask right after his medical test. The Uruguay player will play for the Colchoneros next season, he arrived on a loan for €7.2 million. Diego Simeone can finally say his squad is complete for the new season after closing this last deal.

Torreira will come as Thomas Partey’s replacement in midfield after the Ghanian player left to play for Arsenal. This pretty much seems like a trade but the Gunners paid a lot of cash for the midfielder. Although Torreira wasn’t expensive at all, there’s a feeling he can reach his best level of performance for a manager like ‘Cholo’. Both deals seem like a win-win situation for the Colchoneros.
