When Neymar left FC Barcelona to play for PSG, he established a legal battle against the club because Josep Maria Bartomeu refused to pay a debt. According to the player’s legal team, the Catalan club owed him millions for the years he played at the club. Due to the rash way in which Neymar left the club, the president decided to refuse that pay. Obviously, Neymar and his family decided to go to a legal battle. Throughout these years, there were several trials in which none of both parties agreed to drop the case.

But when Joan Laporta arrived at the club, Neymar and his family no longer had enemies at the club’s board of directors. Due to this shift in the narrative between both sides, a final agreement was reached today. As per the club’s own report through their official website, both sides ended the trial amicably. This was a gesture of goodwill from both sides but mostly from Neymar’s camp as he was the one with the lawsuit.

FC Barcelona’s statement in full.

In an unexpected turn of events, FC Barcelona revealed the news through their official website. This leaves Neymar in good position to continue his good relationship with the club from a distance while he still plays for PSG: “FC Barcelona announce that it has ended out of court in amicable fashion the various labour and civil litigation cases that were open with the Brazilian player Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior.

“As such, a transactional agreement between the Club and the player has been signed to end the legal cases that were pending between the two parties: three claims related to labour and a civil case. Neymar was a Barça player between the seasons 2013/14 until 2016/17. Subsequently, he signed for Paris Saint-Germain, the club where he currently plays.”
