Bournemouth star Callum Wilson has completed his €22.5m transfer to Newcastle United on a four-year deal until 2024.

Wilson has proven himself to be a capable frontman in the Premier League, having scored 41 goals in 126 games for Bournemouth in the last five seasons.

The former Coventry striker was always likely to leave the Vitality Stadium following the club’s relegation, with top English sides reportedly interested. But Newcastle ultimately got the nod.

Steve Bruce’s side have signed Wilson on a five-year contract after agreeing to a €22.5m transfer deal with Bournemouth.

“From the minute I knew that Newcastle were interested, it was definitely something that appealed to me,” Wilson told the club’s website.

“It’s a massive club with great history. Along the years, they’ve had great strikers so if I can emulate half of what they’ve done, I’d like to attempt that.

“I believe in my ability as a player. As a striker I think it’s important to set yourself goals long term and short term, and I’m hoping to achieve them.

“With the players around me, I believe we can get the goals we need as team and I want to help contribute to that.”

The 28-year-old is in the peak stage of his career and he will surely prove to be a useful source upfront at Newcastle, who struggled badly in the goal department last season. In fact, they scored just 38 times in the Premier League.
