Newcastle United have accelerated their interest in the sought-after Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson to outplay the competition from fellow Premier League rivals.

According to Sky Sports, Newcastle United have submitted a £20million bid for Callum Wilson, as they look to step up their transfer activity.

With Bournemouth suffering relegation from the Premier League, they are likely to lose several of their first-team stars, including the English forward.

The 28-year-old has already revealed his intention to maintain his career in the English top-flight. The interest from Tottenham, Fulham, West Ham, and Aston Villa followed soon after.

It was the Lions who made the first attempt to snatch Wilson. But, their £15million offer was knocked back by Bournemouth last Friday.

Newcastle are now in pole position, as they can also rely on Bournemouth’s interest in Matt Ritchie to help get a deal over the line.

Although the Cherries want Ritchie in a separate deal, the Magpies are willing to include the 30-year-old as a makeweight in the deal to sign Wilson.

Since joining from Coventry in 2014, he has notched 67 goals in 180 outings for the Vitality Stadium outfit, including eight in the Premier League last season.

In addition to Wilson, Newcastle are also working on sealing the deal with Norwich City for Jamal Lewis. Relegated Norwich have already accepted a £13.5m offer for the talented left-back.

Sassuolo’s wide defender Rogerio is also on Steve Bruce’s shopping list. Talks between the parties have reportedly started on the basis of £12.5m.
