In his second season with Real Madrid, Luka Jovic has been loaned out as he has failed to impress Zinedine Zidane.

The speculation is over as the club’s sporting director confirmed it himself. Before this Tuesday night’s cup clash, Fredi Bobic addressed the rumors that Luka Jovic was coming back to Frankfurt.

“Luka Jovic is on the verge of a loan to us until the summer,” said the director to Sky Sports Deutschland. “We still need to sort out a few things, for example the medical. If it all comes together, he’ll soon be back with us.”

The 23-year-old striker arrived in Madrid back in 2019 for a heavy fee of €63 million. Jovic had just scored 27 goals for Frankfurt the previous season, which arguably justified Real’s efforts. However, Jovic struggled to find his way around the Merengues squad. In fact, the Serbian player has only found the net on two occasions after 32 games at Madrid.

Less than two weeks ago, Frankfurt’s manager Adi Hutter had opened up on the possibility of the player’s return.

“It’s something that doesn’t escape anyone. He is not having a lot of playing time at Real Madrid and I wouldn’t object to him coming back to Frankfurt.”

It looks like Adi Hutter will have his wish fulfilled, since the young striker is on his way back to Germany. Now, Luka Jovic will attempt to relaunch his career with his former club. The 23-year-old is set to join Frankfurt on a six-month loan.

Nevertheless, Luka will have a tough task ahead of him. Andre Silva, the squad’s current number 9, is having a terrific season in Germany. The Portuguese striker has scored 12 goals on 15 occasions for Frankfurt.
